Our Story

Kristen Davis became a speech language pathologist after experiencing a life-threatening neurological crisis in her twenties. Studying the brain and communication in graduate school helped her rehabilitate her own brain. As the founder of Wavelength Speech, she is passionate about partnering with clients to reach their own speech, language, cognitive, voice, and swallowing goals with an emphasis on brain health.

Kristen’s therapeutic approach comes from a combined 15 years of experience as a speech therapist, public mental health advocate, educator, and professional writer. She holds a certificate of clinical competence from the American Speech Language Hearing Association. She has worked with adults, teens, and children in a variety of therapeutic settings, including outpatient, inpatient, skilled nursing, multidisciplinary rehab, and in-home.

Kristen holds additional certifications as a Certified Brain Injury Specialist from the Brain Injury Association of America and a voice specialist with Lee Silverman Voice Treatment (LSVT LOUD). She has specialized training in diagnosing and treating swallowing disorders with the use of fiberoptic endoscopic evaluation of swallowing (FEES).

She received her Master of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology from George Washington University and her Bachelor of Arts in English and Women’s Studies from Duke University, where she earned high distinction in creative writing.

After growing up in Florida, she is now a proud resident of Frederick County, Maryland, where she loves going for walks in the woods and to dance classes with her wonderful partner, Josh.

She is currently licensed to practice in Maryland and Florida.
