Executive Functioning

Do you have trouble getting to appointments on time or staying organized? Perhaps you struggle with setting goals and carrying out the steps needed to accomplish those goals. Maybe you have difficulty controlling your emotions and the things you say in social situations.

Difficulty with these sorts of everyday tasks could indicate that you have challenges with executive functioning. Impairments with executive functioning can result from an acquired brain injury, such as a stroke, or from conditions people are born with, such as ADHD or history of mental illness.

Executive functioning skills are housed in the front part of our brains.

Examples of these skills include:

  • Organizing, planning, and prioritizing

  • Focusing on tasks until completion

  • Regulating emotions

  • Time management

If these are skills you would like to improve, we are here to help. We will work with you to set and achieve personal goals.
